Tampa Bay’s Convention Center
One of the more amazing pieces of Tampa Bay Area’s architectural landmarks is the Tampa Convention Center. With an amazing waterfront view and its beautiful and unique architectural features, the Convention Center is located on a historical setting that showcases its natural surroundings. Here amongst the conveniences of an energetic downtown commerce area, Tampa’s Convention Center offers both the corporate and private world first-class accommodations at the adjoining Embassy Suites Hotel.

For centuries the Tampa Bay Area has been attracting countless people from all ethnicities, from the days of its early exploration by the Spaniards in the 1500’s to international corporate giants today, seeking a venue capable of hosting their demands for space, service, accommodations and warm tropical atmosphere. With Tampa offering Florida’s largest variety of attractions, accommodations, educational and business opportunities, Tampa Bay offers all the best of Florida in one picturesque place.
Visitors today will find the accommodations at the Embassy Suites and the Convention Center more than accommodating. Here with over 600,000 square foot building of the Tampa Convention Center business will find 200,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 36,000 square foot ballroom, and 36 breakout rooms that total over 42,000 square feet of additional meeting space. Add to that, over 84,000 square feet of flexible public space and you have the best venue for any meeting, convention or special event.
This strategic location of the Convention Center is rich with history which contributed greatly to not only to the growth of the immediate area, but the development of the nation itself. This prime piece of real estate was once the site of Fort Brooke back in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. Positioned on the eastside of the mouth of Hillsborough River it is now adjoined with the man-made Garrison Channel running to the east and Seddon Channel running southerly.
Today there are other man-made features such as the Davis Islands, directly to the south, which used to be Little Grassy Key and Big Grassy Key. These islands were built up from mud dredged from the bottom of Tampa Bay in the 1920’s and expanded to become some of the most pristine real estate in the area. Today these man-made features and waterways are attractive compliments to the City of Tampa, providing a unique and scenic setting for Tampa’s recently completed River Walk.
So if you’re planning a convention you could not pick a spot more rich with scenery and history. Whether you’re in Tampa for business, just visiting, or even a local resident out for the day, plan a trip to the nearby Tampa Bay History Center and you will gain a little more experience and a lot of appreciation of this area’s rich history. There you can also grab a quick bite at their eatery overlooking the waterway and take a stroll on Tampa’s River Walk along Garrison Channel to the Convention Center and witness for yourself how Tampa Bay has blossomed into an inviting and beautiful metropolis . . . and don’t forget your camera!
